Texas post-hardcore titans At The Drive-In unfortunately broke up in 2001 but they had a reunion back in 2012 and played a few shows on selected festivals. Now they are planning to reunite once again.
At The Drive-In is confirmed to play the Rock on the Range Music Festival in Columbus (Ohio/USA) which runs from May 15 to 17 of 2016. So I guess that’s bad news for fans in Europe because at this point they still didn’t announce if there will be more reunion shows. But I’m still happy that at least I could watch recordings of my favourite band on Youtube again.
But if you are living close to Ohio, you really should take the opportunity to see this great band. Because I’m afraid that this could be the last reunion of them. Apparently Sparta’s singer Jim Ward was rather surprised when the band’s comeback was announced, as if he didn’t know about it. Or maybe he was just acting? Because other evidence suggests that there could be more than one concert. After The Mars Volta broke up in 2013 Cedric Bixler Zavala was open to future performances with At The Drive-In. Let’s just believe the latter!
Since it will be the band’s first show together in four years maybe they changed the way they feel about each other. Although I appreciated the albums of Sparta, The Mars Volta and even the newest project Antemasque, now I would love to get some new songs from At The Drive-In again. Almost 15 years after their breakup one can only imagine what they could fabricate together, after all the expierences they made with their new bands.
Other acts at the festival include Pennywise, Enter Shikari, Rob Zombie, Disturbed, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Megadeth, Ghosts, Lamb of God, Bring Me the Horizon, Wolfmother, Parkway Drive and many more. In the meantime you can watch one of the last At The Drive-In performances in 2012:
